Workin' for a Living

First, I want to take a minute to be thankful that I have a decent paying job, one that allows me to support myself and prove that I am now an adult.... Sort of. But still, this is not my career.

Part of my morals tells me it its not right to ask people who are sick and injured for money. On the other hand what I'm doing is actually preparing them for the bills that they are going to eventually face anyway. The positive spin on this is that one the department is running the way it should be, we should be contacting patients far enough in advance to allow for better financial planning. Also we do have options for payment arrangements and programs that can help people. I fear that many of these people would not ask for help on their own. However, by contacting these people I am offering an alternative to them losing their life savings.

I feel like integrating my position with other segments of staff so that we can all be on the same page about what message we should be presenting to our customers.

And all the while I'll be showing that I have the initiative to take charge of something to improve the overall situation. We need a straight line from the first person to speak to the patient all the way down the line.
